The SportThundercats are a 4.1 metre long inflatable catamaran style surf boat. Powered by standardised 50hp outboards, these boats are designed specifically for action in the surf. Thundercats can reach speeds of up to 90 km/h and jump up to 6 metres in the air. The hi-jackers underneath the inflatable hulls give incredible traction, enabling high cornering speeds pulling over 2Gs. Thundercat Racing began in South Africa in the early 80's and since the days of those extreme thrill-seeking pioneers, inflatable boat technology has come a long way and the sport has crossed the oceans of the world to many countries including Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, France, Russia, Germany, Poland and the USA. Thundercats have been raced on the East Coast of Australia for the last 12 years, with clubs from the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sydney. Now finally the West has awoken to the thrill of Thundercats.Thundercats have mass appeal to all ages offering great year round entertainment. Sponsors and advertisers around the world have been quick to secure their names on team race boats and race events, taking full advantage of the media frenzy and promotional opportunities. Thousands of spectators now follow Thundercat Racing, which is positioning itself to become one of the most prominent new sports of the twenty first century. What makes it so differentThundercat Racing is governed by an international set of rules written with the intention of having a sport that isnt about who can spend the most money in order to win an event. Hulls, and motors are restricted to out of the box equipment. A brand new hull, motor, and all the equipment to race are priced to make this an incredibly affordable sport for anyone. Thundercats is all about fun, fair competition and safety. The primary purpose of a Thundercat is surf racing. Thundercats race at high speeds, just off the beach, in surf up to 5 metres and wind speeds up to 45 knots. Best of all Thundercat racing set up costs are as little as $7-8,000 for a 2nd hand set up (or $12-14,000 all new) making it more affordable to a wider range of people.About West CoastWest Coast Thundercats Inc is the Perth-based branch for the world-wide, high-adrenalin, water sport of Thundercat Racing. Late 2006 six Thundercat owners in Perth got together and decided to pursue the challenge of bringing Thundercat Racing to the west coast. Through the help of the eastern states clubs and the West Coast Thundercat website more and more Thundercat and Inflatable boat owners and enthusiasts were located around Perth. Now in 2011 we have 6 completing teams, over a dozen Thundercats in Perth and 30+ associated members.West Coast Thundercats Inc is an affiliated branch of the National governing body TRCA (Thundercat Racing Club Australia).

Kristen Judge has been playing with rubber duckies in the bath since 1981. Together, this misfit combination of youthful exuberance and raw talent are hoping to harness the power of their clapped out Tohastu and leaky Aquarius to power their way to number 1 in Western Australia . The outfit will have to overcome not only a limited preparation but also the additional wind resistance created by the massive surface area of Fishers head if they are to fulfil their dreams.
